Who's in charge?Community Bible Church understands that the church is the Body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:11-16; Colossians 1:18). Christ is the head, and we are intimately connected to Him and follow His lead. We see ourselves more as a growing, living, dynamic organism than a structural organization. The Congregation provides resources, creative suggestions, and vital accountability. The Staff is responsible for their own job description and for aiding the elders in carrying out their role of shepherding the church. The senior pastor is to be primarily a teacher of the Word of God, and so by preaching and example he will lead, equip, and encourage the people to grow into fully devoted followers of Christ. The Elders are the servants of Christ in providing the oversight within the church (Peter 5:1-4; Hebrews 13:17). They make sure all decisions line up with vision, Biblical guidelines, and attainability. The Ministry Team is made up of the members of the major ministries. They carry the authority and responsibility for the programs and ministries of the church. |
