In 1992, Steve and Pam Stewart sensed a calling from God to start a new church in Stittsville that would reach non-churched people. Steve became the first pastor and Community Bible Church began with a vision to communicate, “You matter to God”, to the community.
Space was rented in a local elementary school where a small group of people set up and worshipped every Sunday. It was a lot of work but by 1994, over 100 people were attending. In 1996, a youth ministry as well as a worship ministry were added. In May of 1999 the church moved to a high school in Kanata. People were becoming followers of Jesus and being baptized. In January 2009, a commercial building on Stittsville’s Main Street was purchased. Everyone joined in the renovation work, giving their time to make “our church”. We opened our doors in October 2009.
There continue to be challenging, exciting and fulfilling times for us at Community Bible Church and there is yet so much more we can do! We want to be a church where the community loves to attend and where people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
